We are The Spirit & Whisky Company. Based in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside in the UK, we are specialists in sourcing and supplying Scotch Whisky, Irish Whiskey, Rum, Tequila, Cognac and a range of specialist drinks. We source our spirits, multi-award winning whisky and a range of other drinks & cocktails direct from some of the worlds best distilleries.
Our team boasts 75 years’ experience in the drinks trade. This experience has been gleaned working directly for some of the best known international brands in the industry such as Gordons Gin, Tanqueray Gin, Pimms, Talisker and Lagavulin, as well as over 30 years’ experience creating dedicated, unique brands for our clients, right from concept to shelf.

Chris Lake
40 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN THE DRINKS TRADE
Meet Chris, 40 years in the drinks trade, owner & International Business Development Director of The Spirits and Whisky Company.
Hailing from Oxford in the UK, Chris was born into a family that was heavily involved in the drinks trade for many generations. Chris was influenced by his grandfather, father and uncle, all of whom earned their livings within the trade. His family held leading positions across various big-name breweries and drinks companies, starting with the successful family business, Greene King, and including Rayments Brewery, Morlands Brewery, Bass Charrington and Hedges & Butler.
Chris’s own passion for the industry saw him follow in the same footsteps as his family, starting at the Guinness Brewery on his 24th birthday! He later broadened his experience at Tanqueray Gordon Gin where he worked for eight years. This was followed by a year at Bells Scotch Whisky, before moving to their specialist division, Ascot Cellars and later to Stock Distilleries.
It’s the experience gained throughout his career, that has provided Chris with such a deep understanding of the industry, its markets and the people. In 1992, Chris started his own import business, Dedicated Wine Importers. In 2019 the company expanded into export, which is now the dominant aspect of the business. With extensive knowledge and the many relationships built over the years, Chris and the team have a rich base of high quality and reliable suppliers.
